Vision
The vision of the Department of Mathematics has a plane to establish a center of excellence for education as well as research of Mathematics at Hamdard University Bangladesh. The institute is trying to upgrade the level of performance in the academic arena of Mathematics in order to be a leading Department in Bangladesh.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Mathematics is the innovation, communication and teaching of Mathematics. As part of the Hamdard University Bangladesh (HUB), the Department is committed to provide equal access and opportunity academic excellence. Also, the Department is endeavoring to provide a suitable academic atmosphere where students can learn and become competent users of mathematics and mathematical applications. In addition, the students are taking as major that use Mathematics extensively, such as physical and life sciences, Computer science and Engineering etc.
To fulfill these missions, the Department already established an environment where the students can grow up as teachers, scholars and also skilled persons involved in public and professional services.
Learning Outcomes
Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mathematics will be able to:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of algebra, calculus and distribution of other branches of Mathematics.
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically, and do research and reasoning.
- Recognize and differentiate among diverse cultures through the history of Mathematics.
- Determine the validity of a given argument, and construct Mathematical proofs independently.
- Engage in activities directly benefitting the border community, & use correct Mathematical terminology and proper Mathematical notation.
- Demonstrate the capability to solve problems, including applications outside the mathematics, by means of intuition, creativity, guessing and the experience gained through the study of particular examples and mathematical models.
- Demonstrate understanding of the mathematical basis of common algorithms, and the ability to calculate accurately and efficiently.
Finally, Students will demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize a variety of teaching techniques and classroom strategies to positively influence student learning. Alumni will have communication skills necessary to successfully collaborate with non-expert users of applied mathematics.
