OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Public Health educates and trains future public health leaders for Bangladesh and beyond through its MPH degree program. The program instills a broad public health perspective in the students by helping them acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes, and technical and managerial competence applicable to local, national, regional, and global settings. The program contributes to the global endeavor to achieve the objective of “Health for All” envisioned by the World Health Organization (WHO).



LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Department of Public Health focuses on preparing students to develop specialization skills in one or more areas of public health, including:

  • Applying the principles and methods of epidemiology and biostatistics to effectively identify and address threats to public health and to formulate strategies for enhancing community health;
  • Implementing cutting-edge community health education and intervention programs;
  • Developing public health policies and evaluating their impact on community health;
  • Serving as effective public health leaders;
  • Applying the principles and methods of effective hospital administration and management aiming to provide quality curative, preventive, and rehabilitative services.
