The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India hosted a three-day Meeting at the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, India on 17 September 2018.Professor. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Vice Chancellor and Professor Dr. A K Azad Khan, Dean of Faculty of Unani and Ayurvedic Medicine of Hamdard University Bangladesh participated in the World Health Organization Working Group Meeting for developing benchmarks for practice in Ayurveda, Panchakarmaand Unani.
The purposes of the meeting were to review, comment and revise as required each of the three zero draft documents of Ayurveda, Panchakarmaand Unaniprepared by experts. This was aimed at arriving at an international consensus regarding the structure and content of each of the documents. The documents are expected to provide minimum requirements for qualified practice by practitioners, minimum safety requirements for practicing and serve as a reference to national authorities to establish/strengthen regulatory standards to ensure qualified practice of Ayurveda, Panchakarma, and Unani and patient safety.
Professor Mannan was nominated as Co-Chair of the Unani Group and presented the final report to the plenary session.
