The Bachelor of Social Science in Economics program has received approval for its Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum. This program is approved by University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) in accordance with the Private University Act of 2010, Article 24(3).
The updated curriculum for this program is designed to be completed over a period of four years, with a total of 140 credit hours required for graduation. The program follows a dual-semester system, with courses being offered during both the fall and spring semesters.
The revised curriculum has been carefully designed to ensure that students receive a well-rounded education in the principles and applications of economics. The program consists of core courses that cover essential topics in micro and macroeconomics, econometrics, statistics, economic history, and international economics. Additionally, students can choose from a range of elective courses that allow them to specialize in particular areas of economics, such as environmental economics, public economics, financial economics, and development economics.
The updated curriculum also places a strong emphasis on developing practical skills, such as data analysis and research methods. To this end, students will be required to complete a research project or internship as part of the program, which will give them hands-on experience applying economic principles to real-world situations.
Overall, the updated curriculum for the Bachelor of Social Science in Economics program provides students with a rigorous and comprehensive education in economics. It equips them with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a variety of fields, including finance, consulting, government, and academia. The approval of this updated curriculum ensures that the program remains relevant and up-to-date with changes in the field of economics, providing students with a valuable and relevant education.
