Biography

Sufian Ahammed is an Assistant Professor and Chairman of the Department of Economics at Hamdard University Bangladesh, with more than 11 years of university teaching, research, and academic leadership experience. He began his teaching career instructing O Level and A Level Economics and later worked as a Lecturer at World University of Bangladesh. He completed his BSS and MSS in Economics at Comilla University, achieving CGPAs of 3.92 and 3.90 out of 4.00, respectively, and ranking second and third in the merit lists.

His research interests include environmental economics, sustainable development, blue economy, carbon pricing, green innovation, and energy transition. He has published two articles in the Q1-ranked journal Environment, Development and Sustainability (Springer Nature), alongside other peer-reviewed publications on energy, emissions, economic growth, trade, public expenditure, and financial-sector performance. He is currently reviewing a manuscript for Journal of Shipping and Trade (Springer Nature).

His expertise includes applied econometrics, time-series and panel-data analysis, Stata, and EViews. His doctoral research interests focus on environmental policy, green innovation, and sustainable energy transitions in emerging Asian economies.
