Introduction to Language and Communication.
Parts of Speech: Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Verb, Adverb, Preposition, Conjunction, Interjection.
Noun: Singular and plural-countable and uncountable-a, an, the-names with and without the-places, with and without the. Pronoun: The use of personal and possessive pronouns. Verb: The use of Modal auxiliary verbs. Adverb: The use of adverbs, Preposition, Conjunction, and Interjection. Adjective: Position of the adjectivesDegree of comparison-comparatives and superlatives-conversation of adjectives. Numerical Adjectives: These are adjectives that refer to number of things, persons or places although such numerical as all, some, a precise number, they not specify any precise number, they also suggest numbers. Descriptive Adjectives: These are adjectives that show the kind, quality or condition of the nouns they qualify. There is another category of adjectives of quality which are based on the Past and Present Participial.
Interrogative Adjective: When what, whose, which appear with nouns to qualify them. Distributive Adjective: Adjectives as this, that, such point towards a person or persons, thing or things. Adjectives showing Quantities or Quantifiers: such adjectives show how much or how little, of something is intended.
Listening/ conversation practice in each class for 10 to 20 minutes. Use of Articles: Definite and Indefinite Articles, some exceptions. Gerund, Infinite, Participle, Modal auxiliaries Tenses, Active and Passive Voice. Structure of a Simple Sentence, Sentence errors, Faulty arrangements, Common errors, conditional Sentences, asking questions, Direct and Indirect speech, and Joining of Sentences.
